Blessing of the Pets

Bring your furry, feathered, or scaled friends and join us for a short service as Pastor Greg offers a Blessing for our beloved pets! Saturday, October 3 at 1 PM on the Lake Grove Lawn. (The service will be held in Fellowship Hall if raining).

Our pets are part of our families, and they are among the many gifts through which we experience God’s love, joy, and abundant creation. This fall, Lake Grove Presbyterian Church will host our first-ever Blessing of the Pets! Bring your beloved animal companions to LGPC for a simple, joyful service celebrating the wonderful creatures God has placed in our lives. If your pet isn’t comfortable around crowds, or would simply prefer to stay home, bring a photo instead! All pets are welcome.

We’ll begin with a brief liturgy of scripture, prayer, and thanksgiving for the gift of creation and the animals who share our lives. Then, each pet and their family will receive an individual prayer of blessing. As a special keepsake, every pet will receive a tag to hang on their collar that says, “I was blessed at Lake Grove Presbyterian Church.” Whether you come with a dog, cat, bird, rabbit, turtle, hamster, or a beloved pet who lives only in your memories, there is a place for you and your animal companions at LGPC. Come celebrate the joy of creation, give thanks for our pets, and remember that God’s love embraces every living thing.
