We now have a slide show of the build.

HABITAT PROJECT UPDATE  - Feb 20

The permits have been signed! The foundation has been poured!! Willamette West Habitat for Humanity and LGPC have begun building the house for the Osman family at Lawson Place in Aloha.

Is God calling you to participate with your time and talent by volunteering with the build? We still need volunteers for Feb 29th , March 7th and 8th , and March 14th . We will also continue to have building opportunities on Saturdays until the house is completed. If you would like to sign up or need more information, please call Brian MacMillan @ (503) 691-6735.

We are excited about this opportunity to help a family in need of 'simple, decent housing,' Habitat’s mission! We hope you can participate!

HABITAT PROJECT UPDATE

Thank you to everyone who gave to the “World Communion Offering.” Over $15, 000 was raised towards our Habitat House on Lawson Place! Funds are still being received to reach our goal of $55k.

Washington County has informed us they will take at least an additional 6 weeks to review plans for the house before a building permit can be issued. We will then have to wait for the permit to be issued by Washington County and foundation construction to then schedule the Blitz Build. We expect this will now be after the first of the year. Thanks to all the volunteers that have signed up and for the strong interest in the LGPC/WWHFH Habitat project. Please stay tuned for further announcements regarding this project. And continue to pray for this effort and God’s blessing as we wait upon Him to provide.

Willamette West Habitat for Humanity (WWHFH) and LGPC are teaming up to fund and build an entire house!

The house is in Aloha in a new WWHFH housing development called Lawson Place named in honor of Rev. Lawson. Rev. Lawson was previously pastor of Calvin Presbyterian Church and long time friend of LGPC. As a long time participant with Habitat, LGPC has contributed funds toward many houses over the last 10 years, but this year LGPC is taking on the challenge to building an entire house!  We are excited about this opportunity to help a family in need of ‘simple, decent housing’, Habitat’s mission!

How can you participate?

We also know who is slated to live in the house we are building. We are privileged to announce that the Osman family, Abdirashid, Farhiya, and their six children (ages 1-11) will be the recipients of our efforts. They have come to the U.S. from Kenya.

On October 7th, World Communion day, LGPC will be collecting a special offering that will be dedicated to the funding of this house.   Our goal is $55,000.  Please prayerfully consider if God is calling you to participate with your treasure.

Or maybe God is calling you to participate with your time and talent. Sign up to volunteer with the build.  We will be having a one week “blitz build” in October and November.  During this week, our goal is to frame the entire house. Everyone (16 and over) is welcome and encouraged to participate regardless of construction expertise.  There will also be opportunities to volunteer on weekends following the blitz build as we work toward completion of the house. Sign up information will be at the information desk beginning in September.

Not sure you are up to swinging a hammer or putting up siding?  How about signing up to provide a meal or a snack to the volunteers at the building site?  Go to the Information Desk on Sunday mornings or contact the church office if you would like to help with food or beverages.

And we would appreciate your prayers!  Pray for the safety and efficiency of the building project itself.  Pray that we reach our financial goal. And pray for the family that will be living in this house. May they see Jesus through our hands and feet!
