New Opportunities To Give.
PURPOSE In 1998, the Session of Lake Grove Presbyterian Church approved a resolution creating an endowment program administered by an Endowment Committee*composed of two Session members, a trustee, and at-large members elected by the congregation. The purpose of the endowment program is to establish permanent reserve funds that generate income to support the on-going mission, outreach, programs and facilities of the Church outside of the annual operating budget. Assets are invested with the Presbyterian Foundation or alternative strategies approved by the Session. THE FUNDS The LGPC endowment is organized in the following permanent funds: THE GENERAL ENDOWMENT FUND, which provides support for the ongoing program, mission and facilities of the Church. THE DEACONS' ENDOWMENT FUND, which provides support for the ongoing programs of the Board of Deacons. THE CHRISTIAN AND FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION FUND, which provides support for Christian Education and Family Life programs. THE AFRICAN MISSION ENDOWMENT FUND, which provides support for LGPC outreach and Christian Witness work in Africa.
HOW CAN WE PARTICIPATE?
Once we have fulfilled our regular responsibilities to the Church (such as an annual stewardship pledge and gifts for current special projects), we have the opportunity to make a gift to one of the Church's endowment funds. Gifts of this type take many forms such as a direct gift, a bequest in our will, the assignment of an insurance policy, or the adoption of a deferred giving plan. A direct gift can be made any time including designating a particular choice of fund. Such gifts can include real property, appreciated securities, or cash. The Presbyterian Foundation provides plans for deferred giving. This means that a person's money can provide income during a person's lifetime, but becomes a gift to the donor's selected charity at the time of death. Suggested sample language for a bequest in a will includes the following: "I give to Lake Grove Presbyterian Church, Lake Oswego, Oregon, the sum of $ " or "_____ percentage of the remainder of my estate" or "the securities or other property described herein, to be used for the Lake Grove Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund" ( or another LGPC fund you wish to specify). The Lake Grove Presbyterian Church can be named as a primary or contingent beneficiary of a new or existing insurance policy.
